Additional Maths Course

Our comprehensive online Additional Maths course follows the OCR specification (6993) in one academic year.

This subject provides candidates with an introduction to the mathematics studied in AS and A-Level GCE modules. It is designed as an enrichment programme for those students who have a thorough knowledge of the content of the Higher Tier of the National Curriculum for Mathematics. They should have achieved grade A*, A or B on the legacy GCSE or be expected to achieve a 9, 8 or 7 on the reformed GCSE (9-1) content.

One written examination paper taken at the end of the course.

Paper 1. Calculator permitted – 2 hours – 100 marks

Additional Maths is graded on the scale: A, B, C, D, E, where A is the highest. Learners who fail to reach the minimum standard for E will be Unclassified (U). Only subjects in which grade A to E are attained will be recorded on certificates.

Assessment centres (local to each student) will be confirmed during the course.

The course is taught over one academic year(starting September 2020), split into 3 terms.

Online classes are 2 hours per session. High level, fast track tuition is provided using proven methods. See the Courses Timetable for more information.

Homework will be set to enhance learning and informal assessments will be carried out during the course to track progress.

All essential course materials are provided i.e. textbooks. Students need their own notebooks, stationery (pens etc.), CASIO fx-991EX CLASSWIZ scientific calculator, 

Casio FX 991EX Classwiz Calculatorand Geometrical school sets (30cm ruler with metric and imperial graduations, 180 degree protractor, 45 degree set square, 60 degree set square and compass).

Additional resources are provided through a private Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) – including videos and subject notes. Access is essential to enhance learning, and complete the course.

An internet connection and up-to-date browser is needed to access the online classes and VLE.
